UNfolded: Bucharest’s Emotion in Motion

Bucharest, whose daily rhythm and diversity give rise to a constantly evolving urban landscape, is a city where we are continually exposed to fleeting words, ephemeral images, and sounds that vanish in the city’s hum. These fragments—sometimes amusing, other times intriguing or even unsettling—shape an ever-changing urban reality.

𝐔𝐍𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐝: Bucharest’s Emotion in Motion is an artistic laboratory where participants are invited to observe, capture, and archive moments of city life encountered in their daily journeys. Over 10 months, in a relaxed and flexible pace, 10 collaborators will contribute to creating a shared artistic/cultural FOLDER. Each participant will add their own fragments of urban reality (photo/video/text/audio), forming a collective archive that will contribute to a shared sensory map.

We aim to develop a framework where participants can experiment with ways of perceiving and interpreting the city. Through collaboration, they will reflect its diversity. Together, we will explore how urban spaces influence everyday interactions, shaping a collective vision of the city. The process will culminate in a collective exhibition, produced by Asociația VAR, in December.

𝐔𝐍𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐝 is a voluntary initiative aimed at individuals active in the cultural and artistic fields: visual arts, film, design, architecture, journalism, performing arts, etc.

If you are interested, please send us a one-page written statement where you share a few words about yourself, mention three artistic works that have impacted you in recent years and why, and explain your motivation to join this initiative.

Applications should be submitted to unfolded.bucharest@gmail.com by February 13, and the selected participants will be announced by February 20.

This project is coordinated by Vero Nica, Alina Grau, Cristian Eduard Dragan, and Jenniffer Corrales.
