The work aims to explore the feeling of loneliness in an increasingly digitally connected world, but also the feeling of depersonalization caused by the exaggerated idealization of some impossible social standards. The animation illustrates the idea of ​​digital connection, but almost total disconnection from the world around and from oneself.

Cosmina-Ionela Sandu is a final year undergraduate student at the National University of Arts Bucharest, Graphics department. Cosmina spends her time studying various Internet Culture phenomena and ways in which topics relevant to her generation can be translated into fine art. Through the “Circus” universe, the artist explores the feelings of restlessness, anxiety, paranoia, annoying monotony, and emotional agitation, using characters built on the basis of elements specific to the humorous zone of memes, such as the clown and dark humour.
